Charley Haney, 83, of Hitchins, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Grayson, a son of the late Mose P. and Sara Ella Menix Haney.
He was a member of New Hope Church of God of Prophecy and retired from Hitchins General Refactories.
He was also preceded by six brothers, Virgil, Clyde, John, Elby, Tillman and Clint Haney; and four sisters, Virgie Stamper, Emma Wilson, Inez Parsons and Hazel Stamper.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lillie Stewart Haney; two sons, Charles “Ernie” (Nancy) Haney of Grayson and Clifford L. (Vickie) Haney of Flatwoods; two daughters, Ella Louise (Charles) Rice of Ashland and Francis J. (J.O.) Cox of Hitchins; nine grandchildren, Jama Vasquez, Teya Rice, Angie Payne, David Micheal “Mikie” Haney, Jimmy Cox, Dusty Cox, Jennifer Johnson and Jason Jackson; and 12 great-grandchildren Ashley Leighty, Laura Whitley, Caitlin Mills, Leia Mills, John Payne, Kyra Payne, Frances Payne, Marc Whitley, Elizabeth Vasquez, Tommy Cox and Abigael Rice.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Mark Griffith. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
