ASHLAND — Joseph Dale “Joey” Mineer, 57, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013, following an extended illness.

Joey was born Dec. 27, 1955, in Maysville, to Leslie Willard and Charlotte Haga Mineer.

Joey proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and worked for more than 30 years as a machinist for Riggs Machine Shop in Ashland. He was a member of Poage Lodge 325, F&AM, Catlettsburg BPO Elks Lodge 942 and Clarence Fields American Legion Post 76, and was a retired member of Brothers of the Wheel and KBA/KMA.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Kathy Soliwoda Mineer of Ashland; two sons, Kris Mineer and his fiancée, Sara, of Ashland and Joshua Mineer and his wife, Erin, of Japan; his parents, Leslie and Charlotte Haga Mineer of Jackson, Ohio; three brothers, Steven (Ruth) Mineer of Greenup, Terry (Denise) Mineer of Palm Bay, Fla., and Jerry (Nicole) Mineer of Wellston, Ohio; two sisters, Kathy Sue (Clarence) Jobe of Ashland and Sandy (Jay) Jones of Waverly, Ohio; three grandchildren, Kylar, Kaylynn and Wyatt; and numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, by Steve Fraley at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood.  

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
