Thomas R. Robinette - 1924-2013

FLATWOODS — Thomas R. Robinette, 89, of Flatwoods, passed away in Ashland Community Hospice Care Center with his family by his side.

Thomas “Ray” was born March 19, 1924, in Boyd County, to the late Mason and Verlina Sturgill Robinette.

He was a Motor Winder for Ashland Electric Co. for many years before operating Electric Motor Repair Company until his retirement. Thomas “Ray” was a U.S. Army veteran serving our country in the South Pacific in WW II. He has been a member of the 13th Street Baptist Church in Ashland since Nov. 20, 1963. Thomas “Ray” also enjoyed raising and showing Golden Sebright Bantams, with longtime friend, Ted James, and was a founding member of the Southern Ohio Poultry Club. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Audrey Jean Robinette; and brothers, Eugene “Doc” Robinette and Elbert Robinette.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney (Karen) Robinette of Catlettsburg and Tim (Jenny) Robinette of Ashland; one daughter, Mary (Jim) Clark of Flatwoods; two brothers, Mason Robinette of Catlettsburg and Jack (Janet) Robinette of Ashland; two sisters, Doris (Russell) Vanhoose of Summit and Rose Mary Osborne of Ashland; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Joyce Reaguer of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Jean Marie (Dean) Young, Rod Robinette, Dan Robinette, Tiffany Clark Ross (Bobby), Ben Robinette, Kayla Robinette, Jessica Clark and Josh Robinette; and two great-grandchildren, Dean Young and Hunter Ross, all whom will miss him dearly.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods with comforting words delivered by Pastor Bill Parker.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask any expressions of sympathy be made in the form of a donation to Ashland Community Hospice Care Center.

Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods is in charge of arrangements.
