James Estill Preston - 1944-2013

ASHLAND — James Estill “Jamie” Preston, 68, of Ashland, died Tuesday evening in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland.

Jamie was born Aug. 17, 1944, in Catlettsburg, a son of the late George Estill and Goldie Mae Ramey Preston. His wife, Martha Back Preston, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Preston served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired after 35 years of service from Armco Steel Co. as a crane operator.

Survivors include his son, Sean Douglas Preston and wife Amanda Grace McClave Preston of Ashland; his daughter, Rebecca Lynn Preston Braden and husband Daryl Braden of Ashland; brothers Robert Erwin Preston of Lexington and David Eugene Preston and wife Sue Ann of Louisiana; sister Donna Kay Swinney and husband Michael of Kilmarnock, Va.; and grandchildren James Christian Braden, Davin Bowen Braden, Keaira Alice LaRae Braden and Grace Anne Preston.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Minister Norman Roberts. Entombment will be in Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum, with military honors by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va..

Visitation for friends and family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
