Arnold Murray 1938-2013

GREENUP — Arnold Murray, 74, of Flatwoods, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland with his family by his side.

Arnold was born Aug. 31, 1938, in Johnson County, to the late Emmett and Nora Whitaker Murray.

He worked for National Mine Service and later retired as a machinist from CSX with 20-plus years of service. He was a member of Advance Memorial United Methodist Church in Flatwoods. He was a Mason and a member of Smith Lodge 775. Arnold enjoyed hobbies such as woodworking, hunting and fishing. He was best known for his sense of humor and strong work ethic. Most of all, he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Gladys Murray of Flatwoods; a son, Ed (Missy) Murray of Boyd County; a brother, Harold Murray of Waverly, Ohio; two sisters, Pauline Murray of Whitehouse and Mary Evelyn Davis of Ironville; a grandson, Cole Murray; and many friends and family who will miss him dearly.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with words of comfort delivered by Pastor Mark Wilson. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Visitation will be an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.
