ASHLAND — Faye Louise Barker, 91, of Ashland, died at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Faye had lived a short time at Morning Pointe Ridge in Russell.

Faye was born July 11, 1921, in Russell, a daughter of the late Cummins John and Lelia Jackson Anderson.

She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Loyd Elwood Stringer and Richard Olney Barker; and three brothers, Marvin Anderson, Stanley Anderson and Woodrow Anderson.

She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ashland for more than 70 years and she loved her church family. She was a member of Friends of Hospice and the morning circle at First Christian Church. She was an avid bridge player and at one point played three days a week. She retired from Muzak in the Tri-State and had previously been a member of Ashland Civic League and the WhatSoEver Circle No. 2 at the King’s Daughters and Sons Home. She was a volunteer at King’s Daughters Medical Center for 15 years.

She is survived by two sons, Paul Edward Stringer (Nell) of Ashland and Larry Olney Barker of San Diego; a daughter, Linda Mae Barker of Ashland; two grandsons, Paul Edward Stringer Jr. (Sandy) of Robinson, Ill., and Richard Alan Stringer (Lori) of Ashland; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Ben, Leslie and David Stringer; and two sisters, Ruth Duke of Russell and Eileen Collier (Tom) of Harrodsburg.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ashland by Dr. Ike Nicholson. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
