Janet Ruth Bodo - 1924-2013

ASHLAND — Janet Ruth Bodo, daughter of the late Col. Chaplain George L. and Ruth Kastenhuber Youman, who are both interred in Chaplains Corner of Arlington National Cemetery, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

She was born July 17, 1924, in Great Meadows, N.J.

She was a graduate of Ashland High School, Ashland Community College, Marshall University and the University of Houston. She was a 52-year member of Eastern Star, OES 404, South Point, Ohio, Chapter and was a Kentucky colonel. She was on the board of directors of Ashland Community College’s School of Nursing and also Morehead State University, Shawnee State University and Collins Career Center. She and her husband, Bill, were instrumental in the implementation of the memorial walk at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County.

Janet retired as a personnel manager with Ashland Oil Inc. Human Resources, and was very active with the Ashland Oil Retirees.

Janet was a world traveler and a great humanitarian; she never said the first unkind word. There would not be enough pages to cover her love for mankind, which was above and beyond. Janet loved God, and was a devoted wife to her husband and mother to their children. She loved her career with Ashland Oil and the girls she worked with.
