ASHLAND — Garnet Louise Tackett Wright, 77, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center following a three-year battle with cancer.

She was born May 15, 1935, in Boyd County, to the late Vernon and Bessie Wilson Tackett.

She married the late Charles E. Wright Sr. on Jan. 9, 1952. Together they owned Town and Country Furniture and Wrights Furniture.

Garnet spent her life selling furniture to her many friends. She was an active member of Meade Station Church of God and was a loving and devoted homemaker.

Garnet was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Henry Arms.

She is survived by two sons, Charles E. Wright Jr. and wife Jane Bryant Wright and David Lee Wright and wife Brenda Chaffin Wright, all of Ashland; a daughter, Yneda Faye Wright Arms of Ashland; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in the new sanctuary at Meade Station Church of God by Pastor Rob Jordan. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 14, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel.
