Walter Swint, 81, of Grayson, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 28, 1931, the son of Valentine Henry Swint and Hazel Felty Swint.
Walter was retired from the Ashland Oil refinery and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Welsh Tract Primitive Baptist Church in Huntington, W.Va. He volunteered with the Carter County Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry and was always ready to help anyone who needed him at a moment’s notice.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Susie Swint; a brother, Cecil Swint; and a sister, Darlene Flanery.
He is survived by his daughter, Juanita (John) Napier of Grayson; a son, Walter (Teresa) Swint of Wurtland; a brother, Ray (Wanda) Swint of Olive Hill; grandchildren Joshua Napier and his fiancée, Stephanie Hall, of Grayson, Brad (Christina) Swint and their son, Ryland, of Corbin and Christa Swint of Grayson; and stepgrandchildren John (Joann) Napier, David (Della) Napier and Sarah (Michael) Gearhart. He also had several stepgreat-grandchildren, but was especially close to Rusty Napier, Joseph Napier, Aiden Hall and Stormy Hall and nieces Ruth Ann (Bud) Baier and Jane Ann (Willie) Warren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Elder John Napier and Elder Marvin Fulton. Burial will be in East Carter Memory Gardens in Grayson.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today, Jan. 24, 2013, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Napier, Rusty Napier, Michael Gearhart, Willie Warren, Ray Swint, Michael Fulton and Joseph Napier.
