GREENUP — Charles Gary Brown, 73, son of the late Charles “Hop” Brown and Juanita Collins-Brown of Raceland, passed away in Community Hospice in North Fort Myers, Fla., on March 20, 2013.

He was a lifelong resident of Raceland and graduated from Raceland High School in 1957. Gary was a member of the racing world and NASCAR, which he enjoyed very much. He retired from CSX Railway Co. after many years of service. He moved to Floroda following his retirement.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester and Gertrude Brown and Everett and Selva Collins.

Surviving to mourn his death are two sons, Charles and Sandra Brown and Greg Brown, all of Flatwoods; two grandsons, Cody Brown and Samuel Brown, both of Flatwoods; and a great-grandson, Jaxon, also of Flatwoods.

There will be a graveside memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods by Pastor Phillip Nunley.
