Everett “Allen” Moon - 1942-2013

ASHLAND — Everett “Allen” Moon, 70, of Ashland, passed away Thursday morning, May 2, 2013, in Jo-Lin Health Center in Ironton, Ohio.

He was born Nov. 22, 1942, in Middletown, Ohio, a son of the late Edward Alvin Moon Sr. and Nina E. “Peg” Hulett Moon.

Allen was a 1960 graduate of Ashland High School and received his BA degree in English and music in 1964 from Morehead State University, where he was a member of Phi Mu Alpha fraternity. He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Ashland, where he had served as an elder. He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 350 and Poage Masonic Lodge 325, F&AM. He was an Eagle Scout and a Kentucky colonel.

Allen worked at Pollock’s Jewelers in Ashland and retired from Allyn’s Jewelers in Ironton. He served proudly in the U.S. Army National Guard for six years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Sue Stewart Moon of Ashland; his twin brother, Edward Alvin Moon Jr. and wife Linda of Russell; his aunt, Gertrude Wilkinson of Ironton; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, May, 5, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church in Ashland by the Rev. Jennifer Johnson. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point, Ohio.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
