COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA — Ema Jean Nockengost, 88, of Colonial Heights, Va., passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, in Southside Regional Medical Center.

Born in Paducah, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Frances Curd Babb and the widow of Robert Franklin Nockengost. Mrs. Nockengost was a member of Colonial Christian Church and a retired secretary to the Petersburg District superintendent of the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Jean Ott and husband David of Midlothian, Va.; a son, the Rev. Karl W. Nockengost and wife Sandy of Wilmington, Del.; three grandchildren, Kylie Jean Ott, Sarah Elizabeth Nockengost and Laura Kathleen Nockengost; a sister, Carlene Henderson and husband Gerald of Ashland; nieces Sherry Purkins and Kristy Wilcox; and nephews Gerald Henderson Jr. and William Henderson.  

Funeral services will be  at 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Colonial Christian Church, 295 Dunlop Farms Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834 by the Rev. Alan Little officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Chester, Va.

The family will receive friends after noon Monday at the church.
