WURTLAND — Ruth Charlene Fannin-Gumbert, 82, of Wurtland, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2014, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Ruth was born Feb. 11, 1932, in Russell, to the late Jess and Celica Fannin.

Mrs. Gumbert was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed hobbies such as baking, sewing, roller skating and playing tennis. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Freddie Gumbert and Jeff Gumbert; brothers Raymond Fannin, Jim Fannin and Jess Fannin Jr.; and a sister, Pauline Simpson.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving sons, David Gumbert of Wurtland and Dennis (Tammy) Gumbert of Westwood; a daughter, Sherry Osborne of Wurtland; a brother, William “Bill” Fannin of Russell; four grandchildren, Stephanie (James) Fortney of Temeecula, Calif., Corey (Melissa) Gumbert of Westwood, Katlyn Gumbert of Westwood and Kerry Osborne of Wurtland; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family members who will miss her dearly.

The funeral will be at noon Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.
