SOUTH SHORE —
Kenneth Spradlin, 88, of South Shore, went to be with his Lord, Jan. 9, 2014, in South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Oct. 31, 1925, in Leon, a son of the late William Riley Spradlin and Millie Susan Carroll Spradlin.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde Spradlin, Orville Alexander, Kirby Spradlin and Herbert Spradlin; and three sisters, Edith Hall, Fannie Layhew and Cassie Beckadoll.
He was a retired carpenter, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member and a deacon at the South Shore First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Foster Spradlin, to whom he married Feb. 22, 1947; a son, David (Djwana) Spradlin of South Shore; a daughter, Nancy (Charles) Bertuch of Highland Ranch, Colo.; a sister, Alice Hayes of Newark, Ohio; grandchildren Michael and April, Angie and Mike, Travis and Akeila, Jonathan and Rachel, Jordin and Cody, Jason and Georgette, and Timothy; and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at the South Shore First Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Lilly officiating. Burial will be in Everman Cemetery in Grayson with military graveside services by American Legion Post 23 of Portsmouth, Ohio.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.
