ORANGE PARK, FL — Edna M. Boggs passed away on Jan. 7, 2014. She was born Nov. 7, 1920, in Carter County, to the late Charles and Minnie Justice.

Growing up on a farm with her four siblings taught her the value of hard work, teamwork and education. She completed high school in only three years, went to work to help the family, and she didn’t start a family of her own until 1941.

Edna was married July 4, 1941, to Jason Boggs from Webbville. They were lifelong friends and companions. Jason preceded her in death in 1978. She was a devoted wife and mother to her entire family. She continued living in Beavercreek, Ohio, until 2009 when she moved to Orange Park, Fla.

Edna enjoyed gardening, flowers and taking care of her family and friends and keeping them all well fed.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Madge and Ethel; and one brother, Ray.

Edna is survived by a daughter, Carol Mecier of Redland, Calif.; a son, Jay Boggs of Orange Park; three grandchildren, Jason, Tony and Chevon; seven great-grandchildren, Leilani, Adam, Emily, Luke, Harrison, Ben and Leia; and a sister, Hazel Combs of Trotwood, Ohio.

She was a resident of Signature Health Care in Orange Park until Jan. 7, 2014, when she quietly passed away at 10 p.m., two months after her 93rd birthday.

A viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park, Fla.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, with a viewing from 1 p.m. until service time at Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Kingsley Avenue Church of Christ, Orange Park Medical Center and Signature Health Care of Orange Park for their support.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
