Virginia Elaine Farmer, 91, of Elkhorn City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at her home.
She was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Sandy Hook, the daughter of the late Clarence and Jessie L. Horton Clevenger.
She was also preceded in death by two husbands, James Runyon and Preston Farmer; a son, Edward Cecil Runyon; a daughter, Brenda Gail Runyon; and six brothers and sisters, Wilbur D. Clevenger, Everett Thomas Clevenger, Royal Roger Clevenger, Lovene Clevenger Mayse, Elizabeth Clevenger Skaggs and Lucille Clevenger Greene.
She was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a welder at the Bethlehem Shipyard during World War II and was treasurer for 27 years for the Pike County Board of Education.
She is survived by a son, James D. Runyon of Elkhorn City; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, John M. Clevenger of Sandy Hook.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 27, 2013, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook. Burial will be in Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook.
