ASHLAND — Eldid Akers, 73, of Ashland, passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Mr. Akers was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Ashland, a son of the late Fred and Minnie Salyers Akers.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Tommy Akers, and a brother, Thomas Akers.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Bailey Akers; six sons, James Akers of Ashland, Danny (Jennie) Akers of Wooster, Ohio, Joe (Thelma) Akers of Ashland, Tony (Kathy) Akers of Greenup, Richard Akers of Ashland and Terry (Lorie) Akers of Ashland; two daughters, Brenda (Tad) Johns of Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Tonya (Kenny) Clark of Ashland; a brother, Fred Akers of Ashland; two sisters, Geneva Litteral of Ashland and Pauline Stewart of Ashland; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Phillip Litteral. Burial will be at Caroline Cemetery in Raceland.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to help with funeral expenses.
