Steven H. Dyer, 57, of Kenova, W.Va., formerly of Ashland, died Sunday, Nov. 18, at his residence.
He was born July 9, 1955, in Ashland. He was the son of the late Drexel O. Dyer Sr. and Rosemary Mullins Dyer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Steven Harris Dyer II.
He is survived by a granddaughter, Stevie Ann Dyer; four brothers, Drexel Dyer Jr., Richard (Pat) Dyer, John Dyer, and Jeff (Amy) Dyer; one sister, Mary Ann Dyer; sisters-in-law, Linda Dyer and Sally Dyer Vance; daughter-in-law, Tabitha Lowe Dyer; one niece and three nephews, Andrea Dyer, Adam Dyer, Terry Dyer and John Floyd; special friend, Clara Greer; and many more friends and family.
He loved spending time with his granddaughter and she enjoyed spending time with him just as much and always called him “Big Pops.” He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Catlettsburg Elks, the Ashland Moose Lodge and the Raceland American Legion. He gave back to the community by participating in local activities such as Toys for Tots and serving Thanksgiving dinner at a local church.
A memorial gathering will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Heritage Freewill Baptist Church on U.S. 180 in Ashland.
