Eva Margaret Rice Workman - 1930-2010

CATLETTSBURG — Eva Margaret Rice Workman, 80, beloved wife of Charles Clifford Workman, died on Sept. 23, 2010.

She was born in Catlettsburg, Ky., on Feb. 2, 1930, the daughter of the late Earl and Nellie H. Rice.

She graduated from Boyd County High School in 1947 and attended Georgetown College and Tulane University. She  graduated from the Mathers School of Nursing of the Southern Baptist Hospital of New Orleans, La. in 1951. She worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Virginia until she united in marriage to her beloved husband of 55 years, Charles, in 1954. She retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot at Avon in 1990 and worked at the NIMH Clinical Research Center.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Kathy Lynn Evans of Lexington, David Matthew (Sara) Workman of Versailles, Mary Jean (Laurent) Jouet of Lexington, and Jason Earl Workman of Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, Samuel Rice of Ashland, Ky.; and six grandchildren, Hilary L. Evans, David Charles Workman, Courtney Lynn Evans, John Brooks Workman, Jean-Paul Jouet, and Marguerite Jouet.

Funeral was Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Broadway Baptist Church in Lexington. Burial was in Catlettsburg Cemetery on Monday afternoon. Casket bearers were David, Jason, John and David Charles Workman, Hilary and Courtney Evans, Laurent Jouet, and Tim Rice. Honorary casket bearers were from the Becky Mackey Sunday School class.  

Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Milward-Southland Funeral Home in Lexington.

 Memorials may be made to Broadway Baptist Church.
