SANDY HOOK — Robert Lester Greene, 76, of Sandy Hook, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

Bob was born April 17, 1937, in Elliott County, the son of the late John Beecher and Sara Rose Greene.

On Aug. 1, 2013, Bob accepted the Lord as his Savior and was of the Baptist faith. He worked 40 years as a boilermaker and was a member of Local 105 in Piketon, Ohio. He was a member of Hepburn Lodge 576 F&AM and he was a U.S. Army veteran.

Bob is survived by his wife, Gracie Jean Horton Greene; three daughters, Cherie Lynn Whitley and her husband, the late Randy Whitley, of Grayson, Cindy Greene Clevenger and husband Kyle of Sandy Hook, and Christina Dawn Lane and husband Josh of Paris; five grandchildren, Zachery Clevenger, Aaron Whitley, Allie Whitley, Kevin Clevenger and Dorian Gover; and one grandchild on the way, who will be named Evelyn Lane; four siblings, Mary Lou and her husband, the late Robert Perry, of Ashland, Donald Ray and wife Reba of Bruin, Laura Ann Evans and husband David “Red” of Bruin, and Norieta Sue and the late Pete Dickerson of Bruin.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, with Brother Reggie Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Elliott County Memory Gardens with military services by Elliott County VFW 11428.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Zachery Clevenger, Aaron Whitley, Kevin Clevenger, Dorian Gover, Donald Greene, Johnny Greene, Jeffrey “Homer” Evans and Rondall Sturgill.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Clevenger, Josh Lane, David “Red” Evans, Brent Perry, Rodney Evans, Jack Brown, Gib Taylor, Lonnie Sweeney, Larry Thompson, Alex Montague, Chase Evans, Josh Greene, Craig Faulkner, Gage Evans, Parker Evans, Tex Rose, C.T. Rose, Tommy Rose, Keith Sparks, Terry Sexton, Boilermakers Local 105 Brothers and all his many friends and family.
