Barbara J. Cochran 1932-2010

ASHLAND — Barbara J. Cochran, 77, of Stuart, Fla., formerly of Ashland and Tucson, Ariz., died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, after a short illness in Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart under the care of Treasure Coast Hospice.

She was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Ashland, Ky., the daughter of the late Hurschiel Bishop and Hazel Virginia Wells Gardner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by sisters, Marilyn Pope, Anita Hall and infant twin sisters Carolyn Sue and Linda Lou Gardner.

She was retired from the University of Arizona in Tucson and previously a longtime employee of Claude Fannin Wholesale, Cardinal Management and Cinderella Dress Factory, all in Ashland. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Ashland. She was also a member of Westwood Order of Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Matron.

Surviving are a son, Danny P. Cochran (Sally) of Stuart; a daughter, Susan A. Hopper (Ray Stanley) of Ashland; grandchildren Neil T. Cochran of Germany and Eryn M. Cochran of Brackney, Pa.; and great- grandchild Emily Cochran of Brackney. She is also survived by a sister, Jo Ann Richardson of Ashland; brothers Gerald A. Gardner of Sandusky, Ohio, and Herschel Gardner Jr. of Stuart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At her request, there was no service and her remains were cremated.

Arrangements were under the care of All County Funeral Home in Stuart.
