James E. Kersey Jr., 79, of Ashland, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born July 31, 1934, in Ashland, the son of the late James E. Kersey Sr. and the late Eva Mae Kazee Kersey Kiser.
He was a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, owner of Jim’s video corner and worked at The Creasey Co. He was a Vietnam War veteran and photographer. He loved golf, bowling and playing table tennis.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Lynn Normand, and a grandson, Zachary Normand.
He is survived by his wife, Lanna R. Stamper Kersey of Ashland; two daughters, Debbie Hall and husband Tim of Grayson and Carla Renfroe and husband David of Ashland; a brother, William Kersey and wife Sally of Ashland; five grandchildren, Tawanna Fraley, Jacob Normand, Alex Normand, Amanda Hall and James Renfroe; and three great-grandchildren, Jaxon Hall, Xeven Fraley and Ayralynn Fraley.
A memorial graveside service and burial will be at noon Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County by the Rev. Ron Arnett. Military services will be by Kenova American Legion Post 93.
There will be no visitation.
