Lorene Virgin 1927–2014

GREENUP — Anna Lorene Scott Virgin, 86, of Greenup, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, in Argillite.

She was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Curve, a daughter of the late Homer and Carrie Smith Scott.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Don M. Virgin, on Oct. 24, 2009; and two brothers, Kenneth Scott and Stewart Scott.

She was a member of the Wurtland Missionary Baptist Church and Electa Chapter 3 Order of the Eastern Star in Greenup.  

She is survived by two sons, Gale Virgin and his wife, Gayle, and Kyle Virgin and his wife, Lisa, both of Greenup; a daughter, Connie Crum and her husband, Don, of Wurtland; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Kent) Bentley, Chris (Amy) Crum, Todd (Tiffany) Virgin, Kylie Virgin, Elissa Virgin and Ethan Virgin; five great-grandchildren, Zachary Virgin, Payton Virgin, Sophia Virgin, Kristen Crum and Nathanial Crum; two brothers, Talton (Nancy) Scott of Jacksonville, Fla., and Herman (Janice) Scott of Wurtland; six sisters, Beulah Virgin of Wurtland, Dean (Bill) Bartram of Wurtland, Daisy Hogsten of Raceland, Maxine (Charles) Law of Greenup, Berta (Mike) Hildebrandt of Raceland and Betty (Roy) Virgin of Oldtown; and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Glass family for their devoted love, care and compassion.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brothers Marvin Boggs, Clyde Bolling and Butch Kiger. Burial will be in Virgin Cemetery on Low Gap Road in Argillite.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today, June 14, 2014, and noon Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
