Frances Madeline Fish 1934-2014

FLATWOODS — Frances Madeline Griffith-Fish, 80, of Flatwoods, departed this life on Friday, May 23, 2014, in Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, following an extended illness.

Madeline was the youngest of eight children born to the late Fredrick and Edna England Griffith in Flatwoods on Jan. 21, 1934.

Mrs. Fish was also preceded in death by three sisters, Freddie Clark, Ruth Diederich and Georgia Hall; and three brothers, Bob Griffith, Clyde Griffith and Tracy Griffith.

Madeline was a wonderful and caring person who loved her flowers, loved to cook and help others. She was dearly loved by her caretakers at both Carter Nursing Home and Oakmont Manor Nursing Home.

She is survived by a loving and devoted family, including her husband of 34 years, Bill Fish of Flatwoods, whom she married March 30, 1980; two sons, Marshall Dillon and Jeff (Kim) Dillon of Flatwoods; her former husband, Hobart Dillon of Flatwoods; her last remaining sister, Bonnie (Bud) Fields of Russell; three grandchildren, Ashley, Derek and Michael Dillon; her former daughter-in-law, Louise Griffith; several nieces and nephews; and a very dear and special friend she always looked out for, Eleanor Ison.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2014, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Pastor Roger Bonzo. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
