SANDY HOOK —
Carroll M. Veach, 91, of Sandy Hook, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, in Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
Mr. Veach was born June 15, 1921, in Knightstown, Ind., the son of the late Alva and Mary Carroll Veach. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Farley Veach, and four brothers, Ronald, Ralph, Lewis and Alva Jr.
He was a construction inspector for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and attended First Baptist Church of Sandy Hook. He was a World War II Army veteran. He belonged to several organizations, including Hepburn Lodge 576, F&AM, the El Hasa Shriners, VFW Post 11428 and the American Legion in Louisville.
He is survived by a son, David Veach of Sandy Hook; a daughter, Rosemary Veach of Lexington; two grandchildren, Carole Beth Keck and John Thomas Keck, both of Lexington; three great-grandchildren, Caitlin Keck, Kevin Clay Roe and John Nicholas Keck; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, with military graveside rites by Elliott County VFW Post 11428.
Visitation will be after 4:30 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., followed by Scottish Rites at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elliott County Memory Gardens.
