Gary Curtis Carroll - 1954-2011

OLIVE HILL — Mr. Gary Curtis Carroll, age 57, of Ky. 986, Olive Hill, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 23, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 14, 1954, in Crestline, Ohio, a son of Margaret Shephard Carroll of Crestline, and the late Watt Clayton Carroll.

Gary was the founder and former owner of Carroll’s Grocery on Bens Run. He enjoyed watching car races and football games, working at the store, and spending time with his children.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Mosier Carroll.

In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by two sons, Chad Carroll and Payton Carroll, both of Olive Hill;  one daughter, Trish Hobdy of Lexington; two grandchildren, Hailey Hobdy and Landen Hobdy, both of Lexington; three brothers, Bill Carroll, Darryell Carroll, and Sam Carroll, all of Crestline; and four sisters, Sharon Mitchell, Sandy Carroll, Sonjia Bolles, and Cindy Earl, all of Crestline. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Carroll Cemetery on Rattlesnake Ridge in Olive Hill.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, and until the service hour on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
