ASHLAND — Paul Johnson Jr., 81, of Ashland, passed away Monday morning, July 22, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born March 19, 1932, in Ashland, a son of Paul and Naomi Barber Johnson.

He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he was a member of the Serendipity Sunday School Class, Men’s Breakfast Club and the Pace Setters. He was a 1949 graduate of Ashland High School and attended Marshall University. Paul was a lifetime member of the Ashland Elks BPOE 350, American Legion Post 76 and he volunteered at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran and retired after many years of service from AK Steel.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Katherine LeMaster Johnson of Ashland; sons Michael (Catherine) Johnson of Lexington, David (Tina) Johnson of Ashland and James (Polly) Johnson of Ashland; daughter Paula (Garry) Sennett of Lexington; brother Charles Rodney Johnson of Ironton, Ohio; grandchildren Megan (Richard) Kern, Max Johnson, Travis Johnson, Brittany Sennett, Lindsie Sennett, Stacie Sennett, Chase Johnson and Brady Johnson; as well as a host of loving extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ashland with the Rev. Dr. Ike Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery where Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 93 of Kenova.

Friends may call after noon Wednesday at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Memorial Fund, 1930 Winchester Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
