Christopher M. McDavid 1971-2012

GRAYSON — Christopher M. McDavid, 40, of Grayson, passed away Friday morning, March 16, 2012, from long-term health complications of heart disease at his residence

Chris was born Dec. 16, 1971, in Parkersburg, W.Va., and was a lifelong resident of Grayson. He worked as a lead counselor for at-risk youth at the Ramey-Estep Homes in Rush.

He is survived by his son, Joseph Trent of Ashland; his mother and father, Belva and Chester McDavid of Grayson; a sister, Kaye Carr of Ashland; a brother, Craig McDavid of Wake Forest, N.C.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.

Chris graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1996 with a bachelor of science degree in criminology. He was recognized as a leader in children’s social services, receiving a number of letters of recognition for compassionate care from the families and residents of the Ramey Home. He was an avid musician and bass guitar player and loved baseball and basketball.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 20 at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson. The Rev. Paul Schmidt of First Baptist Church of Grayson will officiate. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.  

Serving as pallbearers will be Jess Wallace, Stacy Porter, Mark Strother, Casey and Chad Brammel, Greg Mounts and Chad McKenzie.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
