James Cornett 1932-2012

ASHLAND — James Cornett, 79, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 18, 2012, while surrounded by his loving family, in the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

Mr. Cornett was born on Oct. 24, 1932, in Allock,  a son of the late William Amos and Mary Belle Armstrong Cornett.

He was a retired carman for the CSX Railroad and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Malcomb Cornett; sons, James Lee Cornett of Beckley, W.Va., and Robert Andrew Cornett of Ashland; one sister, Dorothy O’Connor of Berlin, Md.; one brother, Ronald Cornett of Ashville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Ashton and Peyton; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.

There will be no visitation.

Evans Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
