James R. Cordial Jr. 1941-2012

ASHLAND — James R. Cordial Jr., 71, of Ashland, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, following an extended illness.  

Jim was born March 28, 1941, in Ashland, a son of the late James Russell Lowell Cordial Sr., and Olive Newkirk Cordial.  

He was retired from Kentucky Electric Steel and was a member of Skyline Christian Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Jane Geyer Cordial in 2009; one brother, Ray Cordial; and two sisters, Libby Harmon and Lois Conley.

Surviving are a son, James Cordial III and wife Kathy of Ashland; granddaughter, Jama Salyers and husband Shad of Ohio; two grandsons, James Cordial IV and wife Tonya of Flatwoods and Justin Cordial and fianceé, Carrie Cox of Ashland; eight great-grandchildren, Drew, Kaddyn, Caleb, Tyler, Conner, Kyle, Alyssa, and Zachariah; three sisters, Ruby Clemens and husband John of Greenup, Kathy Clark and husband Mike of Shelby, Ohio, and Denise Whited of Grove City, Ohio; and one brother, Roy Cordial of Ashland.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Brother Randy Biggs. Burial will be in Kirby Flats Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
