Elizabeth Birch Burns 1940-2013

ASHLAND — Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Burns, 72, of Worthington, formerly of Ashland, died peacefully at her home with her loving husband of 45 years, Gary, at her side following an extended illness.  

Liz was born Dec. 25, 1940, in Chard, Somerset, England, a daughter of the late Francis George and Edna May Flee Birch.  

She was a retired secretary and dispatcher of the Tri State Livery Service.  

Surviving, in addition to her husband, Gary Burns, include two sons, Michael Jeffrey of Chard, Somerset, England, and Allen Burns and wife Jackie of Ashland; two daughters, Gail and husband David Craig of Earlanger, and Kelly and husband Shady Millhouse of Worthington; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, John Birch of Somerset, Norfolk, England; a sister, Ann Smith of Ilminster, Somerset, England; and a very close and dear friend, Marilyn Cline of Bardstown.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Preston Family Funeral Home by Bro. Mike Neal. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast.  

Friends may call  from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
