Robert Bruce Shearer - 1928-2013

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Robert Bruce Shearer, 84, of San Rafael, Calif., formerly of Ashland, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, in Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae, Calif.

He was born March 31, 1928, in Lexington, the son of the late Jesse and Rebecca Wills Shearer.

He was a retired attorney and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Castle Shearer.

Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Shearer of San Rafael and Terrie (Jim) Gutwein of Kettering, Ohio; a son, Robert E. Bruce (Mary Alfred) Shearer of Dayton, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Betty Jo Castle of Ashland; five grandchildren, Katherine (Jon) Smith, Richard Gutwein, Ashley Shearer, Bruce Shearer and Jason Mahood; and a great-grandchild, Ian Smith.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Miller Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville KY 40205-3284.
