Alberta M. “Polly” Weinfurtner, 88, entered into rest on July 5, 2013, at Normandie Ridge Nursing Center in York, Pa. She was the wife of the late Karl H. Weinfurtner.
She was born March 18, 1925, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Leona Belle (Banks) and Albert Thompson.
Polly was a graduate of Ashland Senior High School and the University of Kentucky, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity. She was a volunteer at the Kentucky Highlands Museum and also on the Bereavement Committee for Holy Family Church.
Polly is survived by two sons, Karl M. Weinfurtner and wife, Toni, of San Diego, Calif., and Paul H. Weinfurtner and wife, Cheryl, of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Laurie Overmiller and husband, Jim, of York, Pa.; one brother, Tommy Thompson and wife Gail of Lexington; three grandsons, Alex Weinfurtner and wife Dalina, Max Weinfurtner, Simon Overmiller and wife Lyla; one granddaughter, Celeste Gagnon, and husband Joseph; and one great-grandson.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 8, at Holy Family Church with the Rev. John P. Noe officiating. Visitation will be in the narthex of the church from 9 to 10 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery immediately following the Mass. Arrangements are being made by Steen Funeral Home in Ashland.
