LAVALETTE, WV —
Ronald L. Satterfield, 62, of Lavalette, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013.
He was born Sept. 30, 1950, in Fairmont, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Rayburn Satterfield, and a brother, David Allen Satterfield.
Survivors include his loving wife, Diane Satterfield of Lavalette; his son, Ryan Satterfield, and his wife, Rochelle; his mother, Alma Hawkins Satterfield; his sister, Karen Watkins, and her husband, Ron, all of Fairmont; and many friends and family too numerous to mention.
Ron served his country in the U.S. Air Force. During the 1980s and 1990s he worked as the director of representation for the KYOWVA Area Local American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO. After he left his position, he remained committed to protecting and advancing union jobs in the area by leading marches and distributing petitions. He was a member of the Harley Davidson Owners Group and enjoyed his time outdoors.
Ron loved people and could often be found talking at the doughnut shop in Ashland during his lunch break. He never met a stranger and was a true friend to many. He will be sorely missed.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home in Wayne, W.Va. Friends may call two hours before the service at the funeral home.
