Darlene S. Thomas, 82, of Ky. 1 in Greenup, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Thomas was born Jan. 26. 1932, in Greenup, a daughter of the late Arthur and Dollie Marie Pruitt Skaggs.
She worked for several years as a seamstress at the Cinderella Dress Factory in Ashland. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Flatwoods, where she was a former primary Sunday school teacher.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lowe Thomas; six brothers, Rancie Hannah, Vernon Skaggs, Alvin Hannah, Glen Skaggs, Robert Skaggs and Denver Skaggs; and six sisters, Bertha Keen, Kentucky Cleo Fritz, Freda Lancaster, Jarlene Clifton, Frenda Womack and Eugenia Aguirre.
She is survived by two sons, Randall Edward (Elizabeth) Thomas of Wurtland and Kevin (Tina) Thomas of West Union, Ohio; two daughters, Delara Diane Moore and Tammy Lynn (Paul) Greene, both of Greenup; 12 grandchildren, Dawn Thomas Workman, Randy Thomas, Josh Thomas, Dylan Thomas, Zachary Thomas, Melissa Furnish, Bryan Gumbert, Jason Gumbert, Michelle Hannah, Jeremy Greene, Craig Miller and Larry Moore Jr.; 19 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at First Church of the Nazarene in Flatwoods by Brother Warren Toller and Bishop Henry Montgomery. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup and after noon Monday at the church.
