Viola Mae Stevens-Starr, 85, of Russell, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell.
She was born in Greenup County on Nov. 30, 1928, to the late Arthur and Martha Osborne-Stevens.
Viola was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church of Russell. She was a member of the church’s Stitches of Love quilting group as well as the Greenup County Quilters Guild and the Homemakers club.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Starr, in 2008 and a sister, Edna Cochran.
Ms. Starr leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including a daughter, Bonnie Blevins and husband Rick of Russell; two grandchildren, Nathan Blevins of Russell and Jason Blevins and wife Jana of Flatwoods; nine great-grandchildren, Savannah Rose, Dylan, Wade, Jade, McKenzie, Autumn, Laney Sue, Michael and Alexander; two brothers, Herbert Stevens of Ashland and Clyde Stevens of Ontario, Calif.; a sister, Geneva Cochran of Worthington; and many friends and extended family, all of whom will miss her.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Pastor Ken Gowin. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
