ASHLAND — James C. Mulkey, 72, of Ashland, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 4, 1941, in Jenkins, the son of the late John and Maxine Miller Mulkey.

He was retired from Shelley Construction Co. and was a U.S. Navy veteran who served on the Midway aircraft carrier. He was a member of Crum Chapel Church, Fred Gross Masonic Lodge 953  and Rush Eastern Star, and was a former 45-year member of Luther B. Turner Masonic Lodge 732 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a Kentucky colonel and admiral.  

Survivors include two sons, Tim Mulkey of Ashland and Matt Mulkey of Hilliard, Ohio; six grandchildren, Alex Mulkey, David Mulkey, Cassie Mulkey, Jaime Mulkey, Drake Mulkey and Selina Mulkey; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Mulkey and Jude Mulkey.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Bill Smith. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park, with military services by the U.S. Navy.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Masonic services by Fred Gross Masonic Lodge 732 at 12:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
