James “Bud” Francis 1927-2014

ASHLAND — James Otis “Bud” Francis, 86, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, following an extended illness.

Bud was born June 11, 1927, in Westwood, to the late Sylvester and Clora Moore Francis.

He was retired from the maintenance department of Kmart in Tampa, Fla. He was a resident of Unity Square and attended church services with his numerous friends and extended family at Unity Square.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Francis; and three sisters, Goldie Hodgens, Carma Jameson and Loretta Hobbs.

Bud is survived by three sisters and one brother, Garnet McCaleb of Huntington, W.Va., Patricia Scarbrough of Russell, Mike (Jane) Francis of Cannonsburg and Shirley Conley of Grayson; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, by the Rev. Jack Edwards and the Rev. Mike Rice at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Friends may call after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
