Bessie L. Warnock 1918-2014

FLATWOODS — Bessie Louraine Johnson Warnock, 95, of Flatwoods, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 12, 2014, at her residence.

She was born at Load on May 16, 1918, a daughter of the late Wilburn and Elizabeth Stephens Johnson.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eura Edward “ED” Warnock, on May 15, 1988; four brothers, Sterling Johnson, Ed Johnson, Jim Johnson and Joe Johnson; a sister, Gladys Boyles; a half brother, Scott Johnson; and a niece, Joyce Keleher.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Globe Church until moving to Flatwoods in 1997, where she worshipped until 2005 when she had a stroke. Her latter years were blessed by many family members and friends who visited regularly. A keen memory of people and past events will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Now hope is in Philippians 1:21: “For me to live is Christ; to die is gain.”

She is survived by a daughter, Janet E. Rose of Flatwoods; a son, Steven E. Warnock and wife Jennifer of Catlettsburg; five grandchildren, Dwight (Dana) Warnock, Dustin (Jama) Rose, Lee Ann (Jim) Sampson, Kim (Ryan) Slusher and Brett (Andrea) Rose; 11 great-grandchildren, Nathan Warnock, Grace Warnock, Sam Warnock, Brandon Rose, Bradley Rose, Jameson Rose, Kaden Sampson, Kayla Sampson, Eric Sampson, Evan Slusher and Joel Slusher; a brother, Curt (Janet) Johnson of Lloyd; a sister-in-law, Fay Johnson of Greenup; five nephews, Roger (Alice) Johnson, Wilburn (Helen) Boyles, Kenneth (Ruth Ann) Johnson, Mike (Linda) Johnson and Darwin (Sally) Johnson; and five nieces, Barbara Boyles, Bessie (Ernie) Hill, Phyllis Johnson, Pam (Don) Nichols and Judy (Don) Hale.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May, 15, 2014, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brothers Dustin Rose and Mark Day. Burial will be in Quillen Cemetery at Lynn.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today, May 14, 2014, and an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Condolences may be sent to wrightsfuneralhome.com.
