Joe H. Miller 1937-2013

ASHLAND — Joe Hogan Miller, 76, of Ashland, a man firmly grounded in his faith, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 7, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

After facing multiple health issues and a near-death experience, Joe conveyed on many occasions this past year that he was “living proof that there is a God.”

Born on March 18, 1937, Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joe Frederick Miller, and his son, Thomas Joseph Andrew Miller.

Joe had a great love for life. Prior to retirement, he had an active career, not only as a project manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, but also as owner of the Ashland-based trucking company DDA Inc.

He was a longtime and active member of East Fork United Methodist Church, an avid boating enthusiast and a University of Kentucky basketball and NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rena Mae Miller; his mother, Ella Elizabeth Miller of Ashland; a son, John Edwin Miller (Lisa) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Ruth Ann Dunn (Mark) of Dallas, Texas; and five beloved grandchildren, Jordan Miller, Ashton Miller, Lauren Miller, Peyton Miller and Nikolai Miller.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at East Fork United Methodist Church in Rush by the Rev. Richard Gindlesperger. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 8, 2013, at Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the East Fork United Methodist Church Building Fund, 20100 Ky. 3, Rush, KY 41169.

Condolences may be sent to kilgorecollierfuneralhome.com.
