ASHLAND — Colon “Pete” Grubb, 90, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 30, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born March 17, 1923, in Chillicothe, Ohio, a son of the late Levi and Hazel Lowery Grubb. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Marian Burdette Grubb, in 1987; two sons, Keith Arlen Grubb in 2009 and Kenneth Grubb in 1955; a grandchild, Aileen Grubb; a great-grandchild, Braiden Warren; and 11 siblings.

Pete retired after many years of service as a receiving clerk at the  Creasey Co. He was a member of Kenova American Legion Post 93 and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Those left to cherish his memory include four daughters, Teresa (the late Marion) Barrett of Ashland, Paula (Gene) Compton of Louisville, Glenda (Charles) Reffitt and Sandra (Raymond) Warren of Ashland; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Grubb of Olive Hill; a special sister-in-law, Frances Hilt of Ashland; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of loving extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Philip Zimmerman. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy and Kenova American Legion Post 93.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 1, 2013, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
