ASHLAND — Phyllis Ann Luquer, 71, of Ashland, passed away Sunday evening, Sept. 29, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

She was born July 31, 1942, in Sugar Grove, Va., a daughter of the late Bert and Eddith Harrington.

Phyllis was a member of South Ashland United Methodist Church and Shawnee Homemakers. She was a retired teacher with the Boyd County School System and will long be remembered for her Christmas candy and treasured cross-stitch gifts. When her daughters were younger, she was a volunteer for the Ashland schools, PTA and was an Ashland Tomcat cheer mom.

Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Skaggs and husband Andrew of Ashland, and Kelli Caiafa of Cary, N.C.; brother Willis Harrington and wife Madeline of Marion, Va.; and three grandchildren, Luke Skaggs, Thomas Skaggs and Langley Kelley.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland with Chaplain Jimm Smedley officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 1, 2013, at the funeral home.
