Doris Ann Stevens Adkins 1934-2012

ASHLAND — Doris Ann Stevens Adkins, 78, of Ashland, passed away on Dec. 3, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  

She was born May 30, 1934, to the late William M. and Laura Crisp Stevens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Orville Adkins Sr. in 2009.  

She was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed traveling,  gardening, growing flowers, making crafts and cooking for a crowd. She was a loving devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all.

She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Wooten; sons, John Adkins (Sandra) and Orville Adkins Jr., all of Ashland;  sisters, Monnie Burnett, Bonnie Sargent and Betty Irwin, all of Westwood; a brother, Noel Stevens of Ashland;  grandchildren, Courtney, Aaron, Chase, Zachary and Rachel; a great-granddaughter, Isabelle Adkins and a great-grandson, Bentley Auxier. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland and will be officiated by Chaplain Jimm Smedley. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.  

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. until service Thursday at the funeral home.
