Melinda “Mindy” Wilks 1979-2013

CATLETTSBURG — Melinda Beth “Mindy” Gibbins Wilks, 33, of Catlettsburg, went to be with her Lord in Glory on Sunday evening, April 7, 2013, at her home with her loving husband at her side.

Mindy was born Dec. 14, 1979, in Morgan County, a daughter of Charles Gibbins of Hindman and the late Patty Lynn Cantrell Gibbins. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Melissa Dawn Gibbins.

On May 30, 1998, she married the love of her life, Robert Wilks. Melinda attended Ashland Community and Technical College and Marshall University, where she was studying child development. She taught Sunday school and Bible school at Durbin Church of the Nazarene and volunteered at the church’s day-care center. She loved to read, spend time with her loved ones and study her Bible. She was a member of Potter’s House of Worship.

Left behind to cherish Mindy’s memory are her husband, Robert “Robby” Wilks; her son, Steven Gibbins of Hazard; her father, Chuck Gibbins; her brother, Bradley Gibbins of Hindman; her sister, Nicole Gibbins and Scott McPeek of Catlettsburg; nieces Madelynn Gibbins and Makayla McPeek; and nephews Chevy McPeek and Daniel Gibbins.

Funeral services to honor Mrs. Wilks’ life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Final rest will be in Holbrook Cemetery in West Liberty. Pastors Shane Cox and Chris Hammond will bring a message of comforting peace.

Those wishing to call on the Wilks family may do so from 6 to 9 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
