Brenda Lee Smith, 52, of Ashland, passed away in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland on March 24, 2014.
She was born in Kingwood, W.Va., on Aug. 3, 1961, to the late Blake Bowmar and Lovetta Weaver Bowmar Funk of Tunnelton, W.Va. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Adrianna Smith.
She was former owner of the Coffey Park Landfill, and was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is also survived by her ex-husband, Douglas R. Smith of Ashland; a son, Garrett Smith of Ashland; a stepson, Jason Smith and wife Rachel of Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; a daughter, Tabbatha Maynard and husband Dennis of Ashland; a brother, Roger Bowmar and wife Susie of Tunnelton; sisters Debra Harker and husband Steve of Apollo, Pa., and Barbara Johnson and husband Mark of Kingwood; and grandchildren, Satine Hutchinson, Preston Smith, Alexis Smith, Rayven Smith, Chase Smith, Damien Maynard, Tiana Smith and Erin Maynard.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Jerry Foster. Private burial will take place at a later date.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
