SOUTH POINT — Michael Lynn “Mike” Hall, 68, of South Point, formerly of Ashland, died peacefully Saturday morning, Jan. 26, 2013, with his loving family by his side in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland following an extended illness.  

Mike was born March 3, 1944, in Greenup, a son of Lucille Knipp Hall of Ashland and the late James R. “Russ” Hall.  

Mike was also preceded in death by his precious granddaughter, Kayla Hall.

Nothing was more precious to Mike than his family and family get-togethers. Mike was a talented steel guitarist and enjoyed playing throughout the years with many popular local artists and groups. He was a retired self-employed carpenter and U.S. Army veteran.

Also surviving are a daughter, Cristal Robinson (Chris) of Kitts Hill; two sons, Jeff Hall of South Point and Joe Hall (Meredith) of Ashland, Ky.; two stepchildren, Sandy Artrip (Randall) of Kitts Hill and Robert Wilson of South Point; eight grandchildren, Ashley Buchanan, Randy Artrip, Greg Hall, Nichole Hall, Zac Robinson, Erin Hall, Katlyn Hall and Ella Hall; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Buchanan and Elijah Kazee; two brothers, J.C. Hall of Greenup and Gary Hall of Ashland; and a sister, Carla Stanley of Greenup County.  

The funeral will be at noon Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Pastor Charles Knipp.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County.
