Johnnie Charles Griffith, 73, of Grayson, went to be with the Lord at his home on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at his residence.
He was born July 15, 1939, at Robin in Hitchins, to the late Edison and Naomi Dickison Griffith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Griffith.
Johnnie was a laborer for General Refractories in Hitchins, an Army veteran and of the Baptist faith. He loved to watch Westerns, fish, read the newspaper and take his daily rides, making “his rounds.” He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Janet Dillow Griffith; a daughter, Ginger (Ryan) McClurg; three sons, Johnnie Edison (Johnda) Griffith, Matthew (Regina) Griffith and Mark (girlfriend Crystal Cantrell) Griffith, all of Grayson; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacob, Zachary, Kevin, Nolan, Cody, Nathan and Bradley; two great-grandchildren, Jeramiha and Trinity; a special dog, Toby “his boy;” four brothers, William (Phyllis) Griffith of Eastview, Robert (Miranda) Griffith, Pete Griffith and Richard Griffith, all of Grayson; and two sisters, Laura Rice of Grayson and Kathy (Estil) Bowen of Ashland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Terry Dean, minister. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens in Grayson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Jan. 19, 2013, at the funeral home.
