Donald Ray Smith Jr. - 1948-2012

WORTHINGTON — Donald Ray Smith Jr., 64, of Worthington, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012.

He was born May 26, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son, of the late Donald Ray Sr. and Grace Brown Smith.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who was a third generation railroad worker, having worked as a carman for CSX Railroad for 20 years. He was also a member of the Brotherhood Railway Carmen of America.

Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Roberta Bledsoe Smith; three daughters, Amanda Smith of Raceland, Melissa (Michael) Roy of Russell and Angela Haller or Huntington, W.Va.; two sons, Aaron Smith, and Darren Smith both of Worthington; one sister, Sandra Smith Parsley of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Zach, Rachel and Christian Haller, Hayden and Kamryn Roy; special uncle, James Smith of Kenova, W.Va; special niece, Laura Parsley Caruthers of Waco, Texas; and special nephew, John Parsley Jr. of Kenova.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, by the Rev. Paul Schmidt. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Kenova.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
