Joseph Clausen Curtis, 89, of Ashland, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Boston, Ind., a son of the late Eugene Curtis Sr. and Hattie Halleck Curtis.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Hill Curtis, in 2001; brothers Eugene “Ham” Curtis Jr. and Alfred Brinton “Sonny” Curtis; a sister, Jeanne Goldcamp; and a grandchild, Chris Curtis.
Joseph was a member of Holy Family Church in Ashland and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, BPO Elks Lodge 350 and the Bellefonte Country Club. He retired after 45 years of service from Armco Steel.
Survivors include four sons, Michael J. (Barbara) Curtis of Ashland, Daniel M. (Becky) Curtis of Ashland, Robert S. (Susie) Curtis of Union and Brinton E. (Lisa) Curtis of Lexington; a daughter, Anastasia “Staci” (Donnie) May of Lexington; a sister, Phyllis Miller of Ashland; grandchildren Brooke Carmichael of Lexington, Kathryn (Jared) Prickett of Lexington, Drew Curtis and Courtney (Mike) Curtis Whitaker of Ashland, Stephen Curtis of Chicago, Anthony Curtis of Louisville, Justin Curtis of Ashland, Tanner Curtis of Brooklyn, N.Y., Kasey Curtis of Lexington and Ashley May of Nashville, Tenn.; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at Holy Family Church by Father John Noe. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
