Harlen Sparks - 1932-2012

LOUISA — Harlen Sparks, 79, of Louisa, went to be with the Lord on Saturday in Three Rivers Medical Center.

Mr. Sparks was born July 3, 1932, at Zelda, a son of the late Fred and Sallie Varney Sparks.

He was retired from Calgon, a member of Catalpa Freewill Baptist Church and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Cora Potler, Gertrude Ross, Mae Himburg, Reva Wellman and Frances Bellomy; and three brothers, James Sparks, Walter Sparks and Thomas Sparks.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Adams Sparks of Louisa; a daughter, Deborah Jean (Terry) Webb of Louisa; a son, Terry Lee (Nancy) Sparks of West Jefferson, Ohio; a sister, Chloe Lewis of Shiloh, Ohio; a brother, Homer Sparks of St. Marys, Ohio; six grandchildren, Cassandra M. (David) Grace, Erica Webb, Brittany R. (Brandon) Kitts, Nicole L. Sparks, Travis M. Sparks and Natalie M. Sparks; and five great-grandchildren, Rachel Groce, Madison Groce, Emalynn Kitts, Dawson Kitts and Ella Sparks.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Catalpa Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Catalpa Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Young Funeral Home in Louisa is in charge of arrangements.
